When snow blankets everything one morning…

    2025.06.02. /

The day before yesterday, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I looked out the window and saw everything covered in snow! I woke Rú up, and we just leaned on the window, kneeling on the bed, half wrapped in blankets, wondering: if all this were powdered sugar, where would we even start devouring the town? But the daily routine forced us to snap out of our amazement. Rú had kindergarten, I had an exam, and we were still in our pajamas. While sipping cocoa, we decided we couldn’t let such a special morning go to waste, so we hurried through our morning preparations a bit to make sure that before…

New Year’s Joy on the Frozen Lake

    2025.06.02. /

I had never been this exhausted before Christmas, but when we got home with Rú and settled into the kitchen, it was like we were both transformed! Out came the Christmas plates, baking molds, colorful sugars, and we dove into a sweet delight: pouring chocolate! It was supposed to be a little bag of treats for the gifts we’re giving, but now I’m not so sure everyone will get one. The chocolate base was already being nibbled on as it started its task, and somehow the melted chocolate kept disappearing during the making; not to mention the decorated cookies… (: Dated: Jan 5, 2017

    Santa!

    2025.06.01. /

It’s amazing how the holidays can make us forget the hustle and bustle of everyday worries and tasks each evening! At home, there’s warmth and scent in the air, standing by the door waiting hopefully to catch a glimpse of Santa… It’s easy to forget how much these moments can leave their mark on the winter season. (: Today is such an adorable day—a little piece of childhood—as I watch my own little one! Dated: Dec 6, 2016

WE – through the lens of a professional photographer!

    2025.06.01. /

There is this belief among Native Americans that a photograph can steal one’s soul. It feels like ours were exactly summoned out by the photos: a few weeks ago, we collaborated with a fellow parent and friend (who happens to be a professional photographer) to capture an hour of our existence—just the two of us with the golden-haired one. In my younger days, I was often photographed, and I approached this meeting in Csesztve with mixed feelings. But knowing Dominika, I trusted that the collaboration would also be fun, even though for me, these things always feel a bit like work. We arrived just as the sun broke through after…

    New shoes, new car!

    2025.06.01. /

Despite my many shoes, I somehow always manage to fit them all, and I’m not really tempted much by shoe stores. But every now and then, my eye catches something, and I feel like it exists just because of me! That happened with my latest hiking boots, and after the first few moments of melting into them post-delivery, it turned out something even better came with them: the box! Right before a week full of university consultations (including a short quiz and three pre-exams for a recommended grade…), what else could a mom do on a Sunday morning… … but turn a cardboard box into a car!!! All in line…

    Halloween 2016

    2025.06.01. /

I like to celebrate every holiday properly, but Halloween holds a special place on our festive list: that’s when we celebrate my honey-haired child’s fourth birthday!!! When he was little, just six months old, Ruben pulled himself up on his feet in the crib (I was gasping for air, worried about his joints, knees, and spine… but he just stood there laughing, and that moment is forever etched in my memory). And today, he’s spelling out English words from a storybook for mommy. It’s an incredible, wonderful, and incomparable feeling when I think about the 4.5 years I’ve lived since he came into our world. Incredible and wonderful, breathtaking—just like…

If we are what we read…

    2025.06.01. /

Hello everyone, greetings again after a period like a sandstorm, which made me disappear for a bit. If anyone missed fresh posts, I’m filling this page now with one of my favorite topics: I touched on the subject of books when I started the blog, and given the role they’ve played in my life, they definitely deserve a dedicated journal page of their own. And here I am, ready to share with you my printed memories, the feel of hardcovers, the soft bindings, and the silent companions that have shaped my moods from childhood until today. They formed my thoughts, inspired me to act, understand, and accept. Thanks to them,…

Rock garden on the third floor? Easy peasy

    2025.06.01. /

Until now, I managed to resist the plants piled up at the entrances of every big store—plants that either burst with health or showed the first signs of giving up, convincing me that their place was definitely by my side. For one reason or another, I felt the need to live with some of them in the same space, nurturing their well-being or helping them regain it. And when it comes to new residents in our home, it’s not just me who has a say, but also my little golden-haired roommate, to whom I’m giving more and more space in managing our shared affairs. Planting is definitely one of those…

About Us

Welcome to our little virtual corner! I’ve been running this blog on a small platform for 9 years, and now I’ve ventured out into the open waters with it for a year. I was a single mother raising my wonderful son, Ruben, who has grown into a remarkable teenager. For years, I was the sole breadwinner as a Krav Maga instructor, balancing the challenges of parenthood and work on my own.

When Ruben started kindergarten, I embarked on a new journey by studying healthcare management at Semmelweis University, specializing in health tourism management. After graduating, I began working in my field and experienced firsthand the tragic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic while serving as a healthcare manager in a state hospital.

As the pandemic subsided, I transitioned into private healthcare, where I worked as a practice manager. Meanwhile, our family moved from a small town to Vác, a charming historic Danube riverside city near Budapest. Later, I took on a new role at the Department of Health within the Ministry of Interior, continuing my journey in the healthcare field from different perspectives.

Life has also grown in beautiful new ways: I moved to Vienna, got married, and now we are welcoming our baby boy, who will be Ru's little brother and will complete our family.

Here, we embrace the everyday moments and joys of life together. If you want to hear more stories about us, you’re warmly invited to visit the original Daysonpaper blog at S&Ru’s Diary on daysonpaper.blog.hu.

So I decided to try living for a year on an international stage and see if there are other mothers in similar shoes for whom this diary could be a support on the harder days—just as it has been a support for me when I was able to look beyond the difficulties and sincerely believe in my own strength.

Thank you for stopping by!
