I won’t be able to write too much—I can barely stand. We got up early, which actually worked in my favor because today was the deadline to submit my final paper for the hospital internship. This year, Ruben spent May 1st at the archery range (and took first place!), so we celebrated our May Day the day before along the Danube promenade in Vác. Basically, we just lay in the grass, walked our hundred-legged friend on our hands, played story dice, and read books. When Ruben got more energetic, we headed into the vendors’ area for a big bowl of strawberries, which we happily devoured while lounging in the grass. A few weeks ago, Ruben and I decided to skip kindergarten for a day and have a special mom-and-son day! We set off to spend the day watching movies, visiting a toy store, and enjoying frozen yogurt—just the two of us. I loved every moment! This is a literary and drama gathering held every other year for amateur theater groups, where actors perform up close—just an arm’s length away from the audience (and the professional jury). This morning, we dove into making some mouthwatering treats with the little one, which ended up with two different results… I have to admit, the walnut praline actually started as just candied walnuts, but I mismeasured the amount of water (we carefully measured drop by drop with Ruben, but somehow the scale was off). For days now, we’ve been eagerly waiting for the weekend when we could finally start baking a coconut birthday cake for a dear friend with our golden-haired little helper! I’d like to share with you the highlights of our Sunday trip—at least the morning part; the afternoon adventures will have to wait for next time—which we spent at the pick-your-own apple orchard in Berkenye!
