Snowy walking date

Ruben went back to Hungary with my parents when they returned, to visit family and catch up with his old friends. They hadn’t even left yet, but I already missed him. Still, I know how much people sometimes need to make their own decisions, manage their own time, and since we’ve ventured into international waters, let him experience this new dimension of independence (within safe boundaries). So, as a mother with considerable self-control, I’ve limited my parental oversight and phone calls to a manageable level.

Since it turned out this way and Laci and I are left alone together, we’re using the time to set up the baby room (until now, we only had the 4 painted walls!) and pick up all those baby things we haven’t had a chance to get yet. It’s super cute fun, but you can really get lost in it if you’re not careful. So, amid baby furniture, ridiculously sweet tiny rompers, and all sorts of safety and fluffy goodies, one of us occasionally snaps out of it and rescues the other with a “let’s grab a coffee,” “how about a good wrap?” or “look, there’s donuts!” – rewarded with grateful cuddles that balance out the shopping frenzy a bit.

To be honest, the best part is dreaming up the nursery, and even better is having a partner who’s open to every option and lets us create exactly the vibe we want in that roomful of baby world. But as it turns out, the endless possibilities sometimes just make choosing harder, and during our last total exhaustion episode, we took advantage of the gorgeous sunshine and snow instead and headed to a park for a big walk. I came home a bit weighed down but truly recharged, ready to keep planning after that fresh air and the beautifully maintained city park stroll.

Welcome to our little virtual corner! I’m a single mother raising my wonderful son, Ruben, who has grown into a remarkable teenager. For years, I was the sole breadwinner as a Krav Maga instructor, balancing the challenges of parenthood and work on my own. When Ruben started kindergarten, I embarked on a new journey by studying healthcare management at Semmelweis University, specializing in health tourism management. After graduating, I began working in my field and experienced firsthand the tragic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic while serving as a healthcare manager in a state hospital. As the pandemic subsided, I transitioned into private healthcare, where I currently work as a practice manager. Meanwhile, our family moved from a small town to Vác, a charming historic Danube riverside city near Budapest. Later, I took on a new role at the Department of Health within the Ministry of Interior, continuing my journey in the healthcare field from a different perspective. Life has also grown in beautiful new ways: a wonderful partner has brought fresh energy and warmth into what was once just me and Rú—now we’re a family of three. Here, we embrace the everyday moments and joys of life together. If you want to hear more stories about us, you’re warmly invited to visit the original Daysonpaper blog at S&Ru’s Diary on daysonpaper.blog.hu. So I decided to try living for a year on an international stage and see if there are other mothers in similar shoes for whom this diary could be a support on the harder days—just as it has been a support for me when I was able to look beyond the difficulties and sincerely believe in my own strength. Thank you for stopping by!
