Sweet Home – The First Ideas for Setting Up

I know the feeling of living out of boxes for months after a move, but since I was fortunate enough to be in a job-seeking phase while building this new life, I had time to unpack. Special thanks to my three cellar rooms, which gladly took in every box containing things not immediately needed.

I tried to avoid the usual mistake I always make: “I know this isn’t in the right place, but I’ll deal with it when I have time,” only to dodge it for years as if I had concreted its guard post forever. Well, I tried, but it didn’t always work out. Nevertheless, with just one week of organizing, a very lovable little inner world has taken shape—a place where both the boy and I happily come home to.

Welcome to our home!
…at the beginning of a new start, which looked something like this in the first days:

With my worn-out plants on the windowsill, so they’re out of the way while I calm the reigning chaos inside:

The first tough evening (which didn’t get the better of us!). I remember I was too afraid to use the gas stove after 14 years of cooking on a ceramic hob, so I prepared the pea cream soup for the blender in a steamer on the table 😅 (since then, I’ve made friends with every kitchen appliance, but the oven could tell some stories about me before we got everything straightened out):

The last time I looked like I’d been pulled out of a centrifuge was during my Krav Maga instructor training. It seems a move can easily be just as intense:

The first awakening after we cuddled together on the only assembled piece of furniture, listening to the sounds of the new home—and I thought: now we’re really here, I’ve already overcome the biggest challenge:

Az első reggel a teraszunkon ami itt virradt ránk és az első kávé, amit oly sok követett azóta de még mindig nem tudok betelni egyikkel sem 🙂

One of those busy working days that kept chasing each other in August…

…so that in the end, we can truly be where we are meant to be!

Welcome to our little virtual corner! I’m a single mother raising my wonderful son, Ruben, who has grown into a remarkable teenager. For years, I was the sole breadwinner as a Krav Maga instructor, balancing the challenges of parenthood and work on my own. When Ruben started kindergarten, I embarked on a new journey by studying healthcare management at Semmelweis University, specializing in health tourism management. After graduating, I began working in my field and experienced firsthand the tragic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic while serving as a healthcare manager in a state hospital. As the pandemic subsided, I transitioned into private healthcare, where I currently work as a practice manager. Meanwhile, our family moved from a small town to Vác, a charming historic Danube riverside city near Budapest. Here, we embrace the everyday moments and joys of life together. If you want to hear more stories about us, you’re warmly invited to visit the original Daysonpaper blog at S&Ru’s Diary on daysonpaper.blog.hu. So I decided to try living for a year on an international stage and see if there are other mothers in similar shoes for whom this diary could be a support on the harder days—just as it has been a support for me when I was able to look beyond the difficulties and sincerely believe in my own strength. Thank you for stopping by!
