Ru’s B- Day (13…!?!?)

So here we are, 13 years after I met this new person, after learning to distinguish the nuances in his voice, discovering his moods and feelings, then his worldview and stance on every aspect of life. After 13 years of shared experiences, billions of everyday moments, on this birthday all I could think was: more, more, more of this person—let me see what extraordinary thoughts will sprout in his mind, what path he will take, what gifts life will still bring him.

When I think about how he has been so far, it always blends with how he will be, all that still lies ahead of us. And after all these years together, I still can hardly wait for the next ones, the new layers building on what has already settled, the new shaping and unfolding.

With every new day, I expect surprises from this wonderful boy, and with every new year, I watch with growing amazement as he becomes more and more himself. And as this process takes him further from me, somehow it also ties us closer together, because it all happens right before my eyes. He honors me with his trust, lets me in, and I get to share in his joys and sorrows of daily life. Though he now has his own world behind a closed door, I have the key, and somehow we step together from one year to the next, waiting for new moments that are richly filled with shared ones too.

I wouldn’t trade this feeling for anything—that I am not only a mother, but his mother ♥
Happy Birthday, Ru…!

Welcome to our little virtual corner! I’m a single mother raising my wonderful son, Ruben, who has grown into a remarkable teenager. For years, I was the sole breadwinner as a Krav Maga instructor, balancing the challenges of parenthood and work on my own. When Ruben started kindergarten, I embarked on a new journey by studying healthcare management at Semmelweis University, specializing in health tourism management. After graduating, I began working in my field and experienced firsthand the tragic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic while serving as a healthcare manager in a state hospital. As the pandemic subsided, I transitioned into private healthcare, where I currently work as a practice manager. Meanwhile, our family moved from a small town to Vác, a charming historic Danube riverside city near Budapest. Here, we embrace the everyday moments and joys of life together. If you want to hear more stories about us, you’re warmly invited to visit the original Daysonpaper blog at S&Ru’s Diary on daysonpaper.blog.hu. So I decided to try living for a year on an international stage and see if there are other mothers in similar shoes for whom this diary could be a support on the harder days—just as it has been a support for me when I was able to look beyond the difficulties and sincerely believe in my own strength. Thank you for stopping by!
