Rú Birthday: 9!

This April felt eerily similar to 2020… No birthday party, no friends, no extended family. But we did need a little sunshine (thanks to the heavens for blessing my son’s birthday with one of the three sunny mornings of the month—my heartfelt gratitude, truly). We also needed a little mood boost to mark that this was indeed a special day, not just an ordinary Friday. And yes, this year too, we needed a homemade cake (oh, that’s always a big story every year :))) ). Beyond that, all we needed was the little one, me, and lots of hugs, kisses, and snuggles—something I could rightfully demand on my son’s birthday without any “no way!” because when else would a mom have such authorization? (This year’s homemade cake was Oreo-flavored, but just in case, I also kept a bakery-made sample cake in the fridge as a backup for confidence ;D In the end, we didn’t need it.)

Here are a few pictures from the morning moments, followed by a small family celebration, and then the bigger family gathering over the weekend, which was a wonderful experience for both Ru and me. Anastázia, I want to thank you here as well for being who you are…!

And although the circumstances again didn’t allow a kids’ party with classmates, friends, and programs, the essence hasn’t changed: another year has passed with you, filled with a thousand surprising, funny, annoying, boring, unexpected, hateful, and beautiful moments—most of which wouldn’t have existed without you. I’d just be a girl with plans and dreams that you have long since made real. Thank you for these experiences, for making my wishes come true, and for sharing them with me. I love being part of your family ♥♥♥

My little one, may this be the best year of your life so far!

With love,
Mom Xx

Welcome to our little virtual corner! I’m a single mother raising my wonderful son, Ruben, who has grown into a remarkable teenager. For years, I was the sole breadwinner as a Krav Maga instructor, balancing the challenges of parenthood and work on my own. When Ruben started kindergarten, I embarked on a new journey by studying healthcare management at Semmelweis University, specializing in health tourism management. After graduating, I began working in my field and experienced firsthand the tragic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic while serving as a healthcare manager in a state hospital. As the pandemic subsided, I transitioned into private healthcare, where I currently work as a practice manager. Meanwhile, our family moved from a small town to Vác, a charming historic Danube riverside city near Budapest. Here, we embrace the everyday moments and joys of life together. If you want to hear more stories about us, you’re warmly invited to visit the original Daysonpaper blog at S&Ru’s Diary on daysonpaper.blog.hu. So I decided to try living for a year on an international stage and see if there are other mothers in similar shoes for whom this diary could be a support on the harder days—just as it has been a support for me when I was able to look beyond the difficulties and sincerely believe in my own strength. Thank you for stopping by!
