Mother’s Day – SHOWTIME!!

And finally, it was here, blessed with sunshine, new sandals, and a delightful outing! Lately, I’ve chosen to commemorate holidays not with presents, but with memorable experiences. Thus, our Mother’s…

Happy Birthday, Hungary!

We spent this year’s August 20th in Pest since we definitely wanted to visit my private students. After an above-average training session (my students were incredible yesterday—creative, instinctive, using good…

One great thing about autumn: Music…!

    2025.06.04. /

Over the past few years, I’ve been trying (okay, sometimes maybe a little too much) to gently guide Ruben towards music, because I have to admit—I’m definitely biased here. Sure, you can live without music, but honestly, it’s just not the same. And if someone only enjoys listening, well, just imagine how magical it is to actually create music yourself! Ru has been talking about wanting to learn the cello since he was very little. Even back in kindergarten, he mentioned it (yes, I did my gentle parental homework there too—just softly pointing out that classical music and instruments exist, and then letting him discover what truly speaks to him).…

Ruben & Mom Camp, Day 1: Ice Cream Tour!

    2025.06.04. /

For our first day, we planned an ice cream tasting tour, visiting three confectioneries in Rétság and testing the little mouse’s favorite: vanilla ice cream. Ru prepared a table where we scored according to several criteria. We primarily considered the taste, but also ranked the texture, variety, and the cone. We gave an average score based on our overall impression of the place and the ice cream, and of course, we compiled the results. Our test included Flamingó Confectionery, Diablo, and Fazekas Ice Cream Parlor. I want to emphasize that we did this test just for fun, entirely based on our personal preferences. Maybe you would get a completely different…

Ruben & Mom camp, Day 0: Donut breakfast and planning

    2025.06.04. /

This fantastic week was inspired by a missed athletics camp: the Ruben & Mom camp! Every day we came up with something delicious, exciting, adventurous, and travel-themed so that each day spent together in our camp would feel a little different from everyday life. As a little introduction, we kicked off the program on Monday with a zero day, when we planned our week over a donut breakfast. This golden-haired one had incredible ideas, and our week quickly filled up with all kinds of interesting things. What I look forward to the most is that we will focus solely on each other while gaining new experiences for both of us……

    Forced Break

    2025.06.04. /

A lot of free time has opened up for me in the past days after I had a motorcycle accident that resulted in an open fracture along with some bruising… Before anyone panics, the Honda with the crash bars is fine, it survived with just a few scratches ♥. I am truly grateful to providence that I managed to get through this with only an injured foot (a broken toe doesn’t really count as a “real” fracture, right..? hahaha..!)—it could have been much worse. I tip my hat to the local emergency department (and owe them a big batch of chocolates, which I won’t forget to bring after the treatments),…

On and beyond the first school year: our life’s very first school year closing ceremony!

    2025.06.04. /

This year, something both began and ended with school. For me, until I passed my final exam, the school environment didn’t seem like such a big change—except that as a mother, I was constantly worried about Ru’s emotional balance, who, on the other hand, was happily thriving and loved school. But once I closed my university chapter and started a new one at the Castle, our daily routine transformed completely. If anything, the time we spent together became even more precious, and we began planning for the summer when school would be over. Well, here we are now, having said goodbye to the first grade (I can’t help but boast…

If we are what we read… II.

    2025.06.04. /

It’s been years since I last needed so badly to retreat into this journal, to hug my legs close and pull its cover over myself. Until now, since the last time I came here seeking solace, I never realized how comforting this space is, how inspiring the blank, white page can be—how many possibilities, thoughts, and emotions can leave their mark here. It’s as if it lifts a weight off my shoulders, as if it wants to help me simply by existing—like that silent, involuntary sigh you release with the final punch on the bag, with a bare fist, no bandages—after which everything disappears. Vaya con Dios. Of course, that’s…

    Easter Monday, 2019

    2025.06.04. /

I had been eagerly awaiting this morning, and neither the tiredness from the new job nor the three days of preparations dampened my enthusiasm when the day finally arrived! I managed to gather almost the whole family together, and occasions like this are already marked in big red letters for me. On this morning, the Easter spirit also brightened the day, especially since my baby niece, Sári, visited us for the very first time in her life, just a few months old! I hope everyone had a wonderful celebration surrounded by loved ones and that you could share the joy with those who matter most to you! Here’s a little…

April brings something new again: the Főnix Castle Sanatorium

    2025.06.03. /

There is so much that this month brings year after year that I can hardly wait for spring to grow closer, and sometimes I even count down the days until April. The scents, the sense of freedom, the month’s celebrations—the true beginning of the year. Somehow, every April I renew myself, discover a new side of me, and set new goals for the coming spring. And the biggest news: I have graduated from Semmelweis University and am now a certified healthcare manager, specializing in health tourism! This April has been especially promising from the very first moment: just a few weeks after my final exam, I was accepted at the…

State exam prep in the kid’s room

    2025.06.03. /

It’s crazy that I’m already writing about this, but next month I have my final exam at university!! Of course, life goes on as usual, and as a working mom, I couldn’t wish for more than to be at home, in a loving environment, with a sweet little face guiding me toward the right answers for the exam questions. But in my family, things don’t happen quite like that—my dear son can hardly wait for me to make mistakes so he can flood me with the correct answers, like, “What do you mean Mom still doesn’t know this, when you have an exam soon?!” So, there’s no way around it—I…

    Kid’s coffee

    2025.06.03. /

I totally understand if a child is passionate about coffee, and luckily in the 21st century, we have easy access to caffeine-free options. At our home, Maci coffee is a big hit, from which we can make funny and delicious chocolate shots, but we can also enjoy it as a macchiato without chocolate, black, or a light milky coffee—actually, even a melange works if the little one feels like it! What adds extra fun to our coffee time is that the manual grinder is perfect for making a delightful mess in the kitchen. Mom can’t even complain because while Ru grinds mom’s coffee (and the grounds fly everywhere into the…

About Us

Welcome to our little virtual corner! I’m a single mother raising my wonderful son, Ruben, who has grown into a remarkable teenager. For years, I was the sole breadwinner as a Krav Maga instructor, balancing the challenges of parenthood and work on my own.

When Ruben started kindergarten, I embarked on a new journey by studying healthcare management at Semmelweis University, specializing in health tourism management. After graduating, I began working in my field and experienced firsthand the tragic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic while serving as a healthcare manager in a state hospital.

As the pandemic subsided, I transitioned into private healthcare, where I currently work as a practice manager. Meanwhile, our family moved from a small town to Vác, a charming historic Danube riverside city near Budapest.

Here, we embrace the everyday moments and joys of life together. If you want to hear more stories about us, you’re warmly invited to visit the original Daysonpaper blog at S&Ru’s Diary on daysonpaper.blog.hu.

So I decided to try living for a year on an international stage and see if there are other mothers in similar shoes for whom this diary could be a support on the harder days—just as it has been a support for me when I was able to look beyond the difficulties and sincerely believe in my own strength.

Thank you for stopping by!
