WE – through the lens of a professional photographer!

There is this belief among Native Americans that a photograph can steal one’s soul. It feels like ours were exactly summoned out by the photos: a few weeks ago, we…

Christmas

This holiday passed undeservedly quickly, and by the time we had visited and indulged every family member, we barely had one evening left of Christmas to spend quietly at home…

About Us

Welcome to our little virtual corner! I’m a single mother raising my wonderful son, Ruben, who has grown into a remarkable teenager. For years, I was the sole breadwinner as a Krav Maga instructor, balancing the challenges of parenthood and work on my own.

When Ruben started kindergarten, I embarked on a new journey by studying healthcare management at Semmelweis University, specializing in health tourism management. After graduating, I began working in my field and experienced firsthand the tragic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic while serving as a healthcare manager in a state hospital.

As the pandemic subsided, I transitioned into private healthcare, where I currently work as a practice manager. Meanwhile, our family moved from a small town to Vác, a charming historic Danube riverside city near Budapest.

Here, we embrace the everyday moments and joys of life together. If you want to hear more stories about us, you’re warmly invited to visit the original Daysonpaper blog at S&Ru’s Diary on daysonpaper.blog.hu.

So I decided to try living for a year on an international stage and see if there are other mothers in similar shoes for whom this diary could be a support on the harder days—just as it has been a support for me when I was able to look beyond the difficulties and sincerely believe in my own strength.

Thank you for stopping by!

    Rú Birthday: 9!

    2025.06.05. /

This April felt eerily similar to 2020… No birthday party, no friends, no extended family. But we did need a little sunshine (thanks to the heavens for blessing my son’s birthday with one of the three sunny mornings of the month—my heartfelt gratitude, truly). We also needed a little mood boost to mark that this was indeed a special day, not just an ordinary Friday. And yes, this year too, we needed a homemade cake (oh, that’s always a big story every year :))) ). Beyond that, all we needed was the little one, me, and lots of hugs, kisses, and snuggles—something I could rightfully demand on my son’s birthday…

    Easter 2021 – Preparations

    2025.06.05. /

Well, I know this isn’t really the kind of year when I can gather the whole family for a big Easter lunch (which traditional holidays usually provide a perfect excuse for), but with a little boy by my side, it’s impossible to stay completely indifferent. Although Ru has already outgrown the little-kid Easter phase (I still haven’t fully come to terms with these changes, but I’m trying hard), a family still needs to pay attention to events that color everyday life. And well, work is work, and childhood is childhood, so no matter what, the conditions for these occasions have to be created. So for setting the mood (between two…

Welcome back!!! & Life Lately 2021…

    2025.06.05. /

Hello again! I know I haven’t dedicated much time to writing this year due to obligations that can be attributed to the obvious pandemic reasons, but April carries so many family celebrations year after year that I definitely didn’t want to miss archiving these moments here in my tucked-away little virtual nook. I won’t have much time beyond this to spend here, but I’m happy and proud to share with you a few photos that have been captured so far: And they mostly tell about the luxury moments of the day, those minutes when one tries to shut out the thoughts that are popping day and night and the desperately…

    Christmas, 2020 (+video!)

    2025.06.05. /

I never dreamed I’d actually have a Christmas this year, but my colleagues helped out at the administration office, and so I got a few days just as a mom at home, right in the middle of Christmas 🙂 I won’t go on and on (though if I did: yes, we’re tired, but no, Christmas is not a burden; it’s gift time together that I’m truly grateful for. And yes, the video is a bit clumsy because I made it on my work laptop and not with iMovie) — here are our experiences in photos and a Christmas video. I hope that these past few days have also given you…

Sweet home- the living room edition, 2020!

    2025.06.05. /

After our lives were completely turned upside down by the first wave of Covid and as we were already preparing for Covid II, multiple changes across various fronts in our lives called for a home transformation. The nesting mood usually hits me in late summer to early autumn, and although this year’s urge wasn’t as strong as in previous years (see the Sweet Home posts from past years on https://daysonpaper.blog.hu), I still had to give in to the inner drive and get a few things for the house. Since a piano became part of our family back in March (which, due to lack of space, displaced the sofa—the only remaining sofa…

Coffee with ice cream, morning sunshine, and autumn luxury moments

    2025.06.05. /

Oh my goodness, how much time and how many events have passed since I was last here..! To be honest—and as everyone knows—new times are upon us, and when I come home from work to an eight-year-old chatterbox… well, my first thought is not to sit back behind a screen. As much as I love these pages, sometimes one needs real surroundings, real books, real music, real connections—especially now, when circumstances threaten to stretch the distance again. Nevertheless, I want to share with you some moments from one of the most girly days of the recent period—a lazy, coffee-scented autumn morning soaked in sunshine with Grandma, when a mother-daughter breakfast…

    Vác, you are amazing…

    2025.06.05. /

I definitely wanted to spend one of the last summer days in Vác—if only because in normal times I spend so much time here, and who knows when I’ll have the chance again. Due to the ever-changing circumstances, I fear that this year I won’t get the opportunity to take peaceful morning walks along the Danube, explore playgrounds with Ru, and enjoy a heavenly slice of cake at Mihályi Confectionery (which truly lives up to its reputation). In this post, I’m sharing with you the irreplaceable last moments of the slowly fading summer heat that we managed to catch in this captivating town. Dated: Sept 19, 2020

    Ruben & Mom Camp 2020 – Day 5: Finale

    2025.06.05. /

    – Reggeli & Bánk – These five days went by faster than I thought, but at least I had this much time, and I didn’t have to focus on anything else but my little rascal. We planned Friday as a calm day with lots of rest and good food—we started with a nourishing breakfast at Művész, and ended the day in Bánk with Grandma and Grandpa, stopping along the way to admire a sunflower field. Ruben & Mom Camp 2020 – Day 4

    2025.06.05. /

    – Szécsény – On the third day of the camp, we decided to go have lunch at one of our favorite places and enjoy some quality “me-time” chatting. After lunch, of course, mom wanted a coffee and the kid wanted a cake, so we ended up in Szécsény at Frei, having an iced caramel ginger latte and an iced orange caramel. A while back (last year? The year before?), one of my Krav Maga students showed me a painted playground in a side street of the old town, so we settled there in the afternoon, enjoying the sunny, breezy weather and the fact that we still had one more full…

    Ruben & Mom Camp 2020 – Day 3

    2025.06.05. /

    – Budapest with breakfast and a little magic – They say, “Everywhere is good, but the best is on the way”—and as a tourism professional, a mother, and from a personal viewpoint, I absolutely agree. With my kid, it often happens that when we travel, we have to race against time (like the Bangkok-Frankfurt-Budapest route—check it out on the original Hungarian Daysonpaper site; that was something else!). Although this time I didn’t have to bring home my golden girl from the other hemisphere in flip-flops, the day’s mood was set when we had to sprint to catch the suburban train. Fortunately, we were both in good shape, so we started…
