Hello, Reader!

Dear Everyone,

I’ve moved this blog here as an excerpt from the original journal I’ve been keeping for 9 long years at https://daysonpaper.blog.hu/. Now that Rú is old enough to consent to appearing in a more open space, I thought I’d continue my blog about our everyday lives here for a year. For almost a decade, this little virtual nook has been the scene of our happy, difficult, touching, and completely ordinary weekdays. But for me, this place meant much more than just recorded stories: as a single mom, I could escape here when I was uncertain, when I was proud, when I was scared, when I was strong, or when a thought wouldn’t settle in my head and I had to write it out. This journal provided me with a support system that helped me through countless life situations, and I believe it deserves to have its own home under its own name for a year. Who knows, perhaps our story can serve as a lifeline for someone else. Because embodying the mother, the father, the best friend, strict consistency, emotional security, the career builder, and the woman, all in one person, requires unwavering inner strength. This strength is fueled by love, which wants to create the best version of this child and provide them with all the opportunities any other child receives – except we, single mothers, do it all by ourselves. That’s why we are doubly strong, and we must never forget that.

So, here is S&Rú’s journal from the past 9 years, starting with the very first entry:

Dated: April 28, 2016

Welcome to our little virtual corner! I’m a single mother raising my wonderful son, Ruben, who has grown into a remarkable teenager. For years, I was the sole breadwinner as a Krav Maga instructor, balancing the challenges of parenthood and work on my own. When Ruben started kindergarten, I embarked on a new journey by studying healthcare management at Semmelweis University, specializing in health tourism management. After graduating, I began working in my field and experienced firsthand the tragic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic while serving as a healthcare manager in a state hospital. As the pandemic subsided, I transitioned into private healthcare, where I currently work as a practice manager. Meanwhile, our family moved from a small town to Vác, a charming historic Danube riverside city near Budapest. Here, we embrace the everyday moments and joys of life together. If you want to hear more stories about us, you’re warmly invited to visit the original Daysonpaper blog at S&Ru’s Diary on daysonpaper.blog.hu. So I decided to try living for a year on an international stage and see if there are other mothers in similar shoes for whom this diary could be a support on the harder days—just as it has been a support for me when I was able to look beyond the difficulties and sincerely believe in my own strength. Thank you for stopping by!
