    Ru’s self-decorated clay pots

    2025.06.03. /

When my golden-haired little one was very small, I pressed the painted footprints of his feet onto clay pots, which became the little family members’ gifts for the others. This year, I rethought the idea, and since the little one paints very skillfully, I entrusted him with the decoration. The final result turned out absolutely adorable…! Of course, we had to fit in a snack break with some gingerbread from the previous day before continuing the decorating (:

Dear Family, I know that before I started writing my thesis, there were many more dinners with home-cooked meals on the table. I know I could have spent more time with you and showed much more patience toward those fleeting moments that I dismissed as not fully utilized. I promise that once I get through all of this, I will be the old mom again—one who values even the “wasted” moments, the slow meals, the few minutes of videos, and all the other things that currently seem pointless and require a serious effort from me to make space for. Dear Daysonpaper diary, I know that before I started writing my…

Cocoa Muffins: A Sweet Start to the Autumn Break!

    2025.06.03. /

I love the bustling togetherness in the kitchen—I truly believe that’s where the really good things are born. This shows in the teamwork, the great conversations, and of course in the results of our efforts, whether it’s sweet, salty, leavened, stretched, kneaded, or simply mixed treats poured into a cake pan. Ruben and I debated a lot about what to bake, and in the end, we settled on cocoa muffins—mostly for practical reasons, since those were the ingredients we had at home. We spiced up the recipe with a few creative and delicious ideas, and the final result barely made it to the next morning, when it was washed down…

Halloween 2018 – and a few more photos from the celebration four years ago!

    2025.06.03. /

Hello everyone! I’m guessing you’re all getting ready for Halloween (and then All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day) just as the occasion calls for. I’m sure everyone has their own story about this time of year—mine, as usual, was all about a hectic pace and little, skillful hands. On Wednesday, I only had time to really contribute after work, when we threw a Halloween party true to our tradition. But in the morning, between waking up and heading to work, I had a good hour to myself, and I thought, why not use that time since in the afternoon I’d only have three hours to get everything ready for…

Foam dart battle in the gorge

    2025.06.03. /

Few things excite a little boy more than recalling a revolution, and Ruben especially loves historical battles. That morning, we decided that, in light of this, it would be just the two of us going to the movies to watch The Silent Revolution, and beforehand, we’d brush up a bit on the backstory. Well, that’s where our planning hit a snag, because at the Balassagyarmat cinema, the film was only showing for three days—and those were the 18th, 19th, and 20th. I really don’t understand it. Absolutely no idea. All we could do was accept the situation, and since that was how it stood, we agreed that in the evening we’d…

Széchenyi Thermal Bath – internship (and at the same time, a new love)

    2025.06.03. /

I have never had a few days in my life as exhausting, body-and-mind challenging, energy-draining, and at the same time breathtaking, inspiring, and overwhelming as these past few days! I have already pushed myself far beyond my physical and mental limits, through breaking points and times when I felt like I was dancing on the edge of my life’s system. But to experience all this while simultaneously embracing the beauty and timeless values with equal intensity—that had never happened before. Last week, I started my internship at the Széchenyi Thermal Bath and Swimming Pool’s day hospital, in the complex physiotherapy department. I get to peek into every area before I…

And we’re turning the page to a new chapter: first days at school

    2025.06.03. /

Oh my God, what a whirlwind…?! And yes, I’m still trying to catch my breath, but we’re already rolling through the first week. You know how it is. In the first week of August, I didn’t understand what was wrong with me, but by the second week, I could feel the stomach knots and the flood of questions growing in direct proportion to the approaching school start. I know, I’m terrible—and if there were a ranking for overcomplicating kid-related issues, my name would be at the top. But starting first grade, no matter how you look at it, is terrifying for a mom. (And the university scheduled our consultation week…

    Sweet home- ready to school…!!

    2025.06.03. /

I never thought in my life that I would be hit by such an emotional tsunami, but as my last semester of university approaches, Ruben is starting first grade. It’s even hard for me to say “school” instead of “kindergarten,” and I can’t stop (more and more impatiently) correcting myself with “what do you mean, kindergartennnn???” ((: Well, yes, one would think that starting school is a trauma for the child, but I have to say—and I think I can speak on behalf of mothers all over the world—that the kids can hardly wait for the novelty, and it’s the parents who are tearing their hair out with excitement during…

    Red Fruit Smoothie

    2025.06.02. /

Another kid-friendly tip for beating the heat: smoothies! I think I speak for every mom when I say this is a forever winner. Gather your little one’s favorite fruits, toss them into a blender with a few ice cubes, and serve in a cute glass with a funny straw—ready to go straight into those tummies! It’s a delicious and appealing vitamin bomb, and a few cookies on the side make it perfect for a mid-morning or afternoon snack. There’s no kid on earth who wouldn’t find ingredients they love and happily drink this in the heat of summer. Here’s what we threw together: Cheers to our health! (: Dated: Aug…

About Us

Welcome to our little virtual corner! I’m a single mother raising my wonderful son, Ruben, who has grown into a remarkable teenager. For years, I was the sole breadwinner as a Krav Maga instructor, balancing the challenges of parenthood and work on my own.

When Ruben started kindergarten, I embarked on a new journey by studying healthcare management at Semmelweis University, specializing in health tourism management. After graduating, I began working in my field and experienced firsthand the tragic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic while serving as a healthcare manager in a state hospital.

As the pandemic subsided, I transitioned into private healthcare, where I currently work as a practice manager. Meanwhile, our family moved from a small town to Vác, a charming historic Danube riverside city near Budapest.

Here, we embrace the everyday moments and joys of life together. If you want to hear more stories about us, you’re warmly invited to visit the original Daysonpaper blog at S&Ru’s Diary on daysonpaper.blog.hu.

So I decided to try living for a year on an international stage and see if there are other mothers in similar shoes for whom this diary could be a support on the harder days—just as it has been a support for me when I was able to look beyond the difficulties and sincerely believe in my own strength.

Thank you for stopping by!
