A Little Friend for Ru!

The other day, during an afternoon walk, some girly chatter was carried by the breeze, which instantly awakened Rú’s superhero instincts. He took off at lightning speed toward the source of the voices. We found the girls, but didn’t get to play long because they had to leave. Since we were already at a playground, we made the most of our time with a good round of hide-and-seek.

On the way back, we happened to catch sight of the neighbor’s baby, who was watching from the balcony with grandma. That’s when Rú’s “big brother” instincts kicked in—mixed with a bit of puppy love. Within minutes, he was climbing the ground-floor balcony, clutching a bunch of acacia flowers he was determined to give to the baby. Then he sang to the little one, tickled their feet, and when he tried to pull the baby closer for a hug, I had to scoop him up and start heading home.

I’ve noticed for a while now that Rú absolutely adores caring for little ones. He’s crazy about girls and has always craved the company of other kids, even though our family is just the two of us for now. The question of a sibling isn’t really on the table yet, but we’ve been talking about getting a pet for some time—a little companion he could practice responsibility and care for, someone smaller who would need his help.

I’m convinced he’d be a great pet owner…

…maybe a cat?

Our favorite research project has officially begun! (:

Welcome to our little virtual corner! I’m a single mother raising my wonderful son, Ruben, who has grown into a remarkable teenager. For years, I was the sole breadwinner as a Krav Maga instructor, balancing the challenges of parenthood and work on my own. When Ruben started kindergarten, I embarked on a new journey by studying healthcare management at Semmelweis University, specializing in health tourism management. After graduating, I began working in my field and experienced firsthand the tragic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic while serving as a healthcare manager in a state hospital. As the pandemic subsided, I transitioned into private healthcare, where I currently work as a practice manager. Meanwhile, our family moved from a small town to Vác, a charming historic Danube riverside city near Budapest. Here, we embrace the everyday moments and joys of life together. If you want to hear more stories about us, you’re warmly invited to visit the original Daysonpaper blog at S&Ru’s Diary on daysonpaper.blog.hu. So I decided to try living for a year on an international stage and see if there are other mothers in similar shoes for whom this diary could be a support on the harder days—just as it has been a support for me when I was able to look beyond the difficulties and sincerely believe in my own strength. Thank you for stopping by!
